First TNT Fall Cycle Team Ride!

I was finally able to make a TNT organized team ride this past Saturday. Before the ride, they taught us how to change a flat (which was a good refresher for me as there will probably be a time when someone won't be there to change it for me :) We then set off in our appropriate groups (based on speed) for our 23 mile Paradise loop ride. This ride, for those of y'all who may not know starts in Mill Valley and goes up in the hills of Tiburon and then loops around where downtown Tiburon is and then back to Mill Valley. The ride was great but next time, I'm going to step it up a notch and see if I can keep up with the fast group :)

We had our honoree picnic and I was able to hear the heart wrenching stories of people's struggle with cancer and how they overcame it. I am completely honored to raise money for the cause in hopes that I contribute toward finding the cure to Leukemia!

I hope you will take a moment in donating toward my training efforts with TNT!

SF2G Friday Ride!

Well, I had a humbling ride from SF to MTV (Google) today. There were 2 other ladies and about 10 or so guys on this ride this morning. I met them at Ritual Roaster coffee shop around 6:15am, sipped my double espresso and hit the pavement. I think I averaged (just to keep up!) about 19-20 MPH! Yikes! My legs sure felt it the rest of the day!

I'm looking forward to joining the TNT Fall cycling team on August 22nd for a Paradise Loop ride over the bridge!

First Week, well first blog post!

Well, it's been about two years since I've trained with Team in Training. I took a slight break and after my bike relay at Wildflower this past May, I was ready to sign up for a full blown race again! I've been doing some rides this summer on my own gearing up for Tour de Tahoe on September 13th.

I just signed up with Team in Training for the Solvang Century in November. One would say that I'm crazy for signing up for a 2nd century race when I haven't even completed my first one but anyone who knows me, knows I don't do things the easy way. I dive right in! My first triathlon, I bought my bike and all the gear before I'd even know if I'd enjoy the tri-sport :) I've been doing "small" rides on the weekends but last Friday, I took the plunge and biked the 47 miles from my apartment in the Marina to sunny Mountain View with the SF2G group. During the coming months, this group will become close friends of mine again! The SF2G group is a group of riders who live in San Franciso and bike down to Google or other various companies down in the South Bay. My goal is to bike weekly to work and then with Team in Training on the weekends. This will both help the environment and keep my sanity with my 2 1/2 hour round trip commute while getting some miles on the pavement!

Last Friday was my first SF2G ride in about a year and it went well. I wasn't as fast as I used to be but I have to start back somewhere :) I was nervous that I would bonk somewhere around mile 30 and would have 17 more to go so I took the approach of pumping lots of caffeine in my system at 5:45 in the morning in hopes to "fly" to work! Well, it worked and I even stayed awake the rest of the work day ;-)

Until next time, be on the look out for a blond on a pink Cervelo on the road. If you see her, be sure to wave hello :)
